According to the official announcement, these statistics will be updated on a monthly basis.
Why This Matters for SEO
For many years, the search community has speculated about the prevalence of specific structured data implementations. With this update, users can now visit individual schema term pages on Schema.org to view adoption trends directly. For instance, common types like ‘author’ schema have already demonstrated massive scale, appearing on over 10 million domains, while more niche types like ‘event’ schema currently track at under 1 million domains.

Google has expressed strong support for the initiative, noting that it bridges a gap in public knowledge. Ryan Levering from Google highlighted that while Google possesses deep index data, making these insights available in an abstracted format is a significant milestone. "It’s hard for most open crawls to get the same depth of index as we have at Google, so we’re happy to present some usage stats on schema.org terms," Levering noted on LinkedIn.
